Paris, September 17th 2010- Parrot, leader in wireless mobile telephony devices, announced today that it is supplying its solutions in automotive connectivity to the BMW and Mini vehicle ranges.
The Parrot Connectivity Solutions are factory-fitted via two major Tier 1 suppliers in various vehicles in the BMW and Mini range, such as the 1 Series and 3 Series, the X3 SUV and the different versions of the Mini. These vehicles will be marketed in Europe, North America and Japan with vehicles releases taking place between mid-2010 and mid-2011.
Examples of BMW Group vehicles equipped with Parrot Connectivity Solutions : X5, Mini, 1-Series and 3-Series.
These solutions include state-of-the-art Bluetooth® hands-free telephony features with phonebook synchronization and Parrot acoustic digital signal processing technologies such as noise reduction and echo cancellation. They can also let drivers place calls vocally through a voice recognition functionality.
Besides, customers will enjoy the music in their mobile devices through their vehicles’ audio systems as the implemented solutions feature USB and iPod/iPhone connections.
These solutions are based on a Parrot CK5050+ module that has been integrated into existing car’s infotainment architecture: this approach enhances existing platforms and ensures cost-effectiveness and a shorter time to market than using an external standalone connectivity unit.
"We are glad to supply our solutions to a major car manufacturer like BMW. High-performance connectivity solutions for telephony and multimedia are increasingly becoming commodities in the automotive market and more and more such premium brands are now adopting Parrot Connectivity Solutions. In that respect, Parrot Connectivity Solutions can be very easily implemented in existing infotainment systems, allowing them to stay up-do-date and meet consumer needs through device compatibility updates up to twice a year.” said Eric Riyahi, Business Units Director at Parrot.
